Barackopolis 2008; Why not Bushopolis 2004?
I’ll be the first to admit that I think these lavish conventions are a ridiculous waste of time, resources, and money. Many people, mostly Republicans, are criticizing Barack’s stage for being so lavish and what not. But to be fair, Bush also had a lavish Greek/Roman inspired stage back in 2004 at Madison Square Gardens in NYC. All I’m saying is don’t be so quick to judge the situation so fast because both parties are guilty of spending loads of money on these lavish events.
I’ll also be the first to criticize Obama, but not when he’s doing something that Republicans and Democrats have normalized.
Obama Stage 2008

Bush Stage 2004

All I’m saying is that if you’re going to judge one side, judge the other.

For what it’s worth, at least the columns of Bushopolis are only banners. It does seem somewhat over-the-top to have a set designer actually BUILD the columns on a stage to me… Or at the very least, it seems to be a rather wasteful use of campaign funds.

Brian,
Your assertions are fair in judgment. I would ask you, however, what you think the price differential is between a basketball stadium in NYC, NY and a football stadium in Denver, CO. I’m not saying it’s right; I’m just saying it’s the same thing Republicans do: arrange these lavish, grandiose, and extravagant spectacles and then talk about the little guy.
